Was this market seller doing something illegal (keyrings with creatures inside)?

At a market on Friday, one stallholder had keyrings with unusual insects/arachnids inside.

Some had tiny tiny flowers (No idea as to how unusual they were).

It was like a 'worldmarket' with stalls seeling Chinese good luck charms; Belgian waffles; kangaroo and wild boar burgers; flowers; soaps and pick%26amp;mix sweets among other things.

The creatures were - for the main part - quite brightly-coloured. I'm too scared to Google them (Thinking of them makes me feel very sick and shuddery)* but one had a spiny top and looked like a cross between a crab and a spider. There was also a harlequin ladybird.

*I don't feel sorry for the creatures - not really - I'm just terrified of them!!

if its a protected species yes very illegal. if the flowers were wild orchids the stall holders looking at jail time. contact trading standards or the council. was the worldmarket based in the town high street or outside the city hall? high street any tom dick or harry can come along and trade unlicensed.
