Would any Scots abroad like to have a wee sing song, anyone can join in?

By yon bonnie banks,

And by yon bonnie braes,

Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond,

Where me and my true love

Were ever want to gae,

On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Oh! ye'll take the high road and

I'll take the low road,

And I'll be in Scotland afore ye;

But me and my true love

Will never meet again

On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

'Twas then that we parted

In yon shady glen,

On the steep, steep side of Ben Lomond,

Where in purple hue

The Highland hills we view,

And the moon coming out in the gloaming.

Oh! ye'll take the high road and

I'll take the low road,

And I'll be in Scotland afore ye;

But me and my true love

Will never meet again

On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

The wee birdie sang

And the wild flowers spring,

And in sunshine the waters are sleeping,

But the broken heart it kens

Nae second Spring again,

Tho' the waeful may cease frae their greeting.

Oh! ye'll take the high road and

I'll take the low road,

And I'll be in Scotland afore ye;

But me and my true love

Will never meet again

On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

Here in the United States, April 6th (Sunday) is national tartan day. People of Scottish ancestry will wear their family tartans. Do people in Scotland have a special day to wear their plaids? If not, you are welcome to share our day and show your colors.

To my surprise my Mom said I was Scottish and CHerokee. Wow, what a mix.But, there is a wee bit of English thrown in too I guess.

There is nothing better when you are away from home for a long time than a lovely Scottish lilt to make you yearn for home.

My dad lived abroad for years and his favourite song had the words (i cant remember the name of it), but the words were

"When I come hame tae my ain folk"

(When i come home to my own people) for anyone who cant speak the lingo...lol
