I found a whole patch of these. They look like an onion or garlic. Smells like an onion. Has a white bulb with a weird looking thing protruding from the bottom of the bulb. No leaves, just a stalk with a flowering head at the top. Stem is reddish.

Reply:it is most likely wild onion, there are lots of them.

'garden' has a great link on the first line i believe that is what you have there
Reply:sounds like garlic if the bulb is large it garlic but if it's small it a wild onion
Reply:could be a leek...really sad looking one...but quite possible.
Reply:Was it just a bare stem with no leaves?

The wild onion bulb has a netted covering and its leaves, from the base of the plant at ground level up, are flat not hollow. There are several species of allium in the wild A. canadense for example.
