My August wedding...attire and weather?

I just got engaged and am having my wedding outdoors on August 16th of this year. I have two questions: 1- I live in Minnesota, and I was wondering if you think that it will be too hot, or what the temperature will be around at that time of year, and 2- What style wedding wedding dress do you think would be cute for this? I dont really want a theme, but my bouquet and all of the flowers are going to be wild flowers, and our wedding is supposed to feel romantic but laid back. Thanks!

My August wedding...attire and weather?
OMG! I live in Minnesota too! I think it would be fairly hot, but just in case, wear a dress that..... idk..... wear wat u want to wear, the one that makes u look beautiful.

ps congrats!
Reply:I am also getting married in aug and in south florida ... pretty hot as well. I chose a mermaid cut style dress, strapless and very light. make sure you have a back up plan in case of rain.
Reply:Yes, it will be hot. If you are having an outdoor wedding, have a backup plan, as it could also be hot AND rainy.

As far as a dress, if you get something in a light fabric, you should be fine. Full on Vera Wang will probably roast you alive.
Reply:The weather in Minnesota is unpredictable, and so you should have a backup plan in case the weather doesn't cooperate. Having it outdoors that time of year you may depending on the summer have to deal with mosquitoes too. One way I know some brides cope with hot weather is by having their programs printed on to fans the guests receive before the ceremony starts.

As for your dress the other suggestions are right, that you don't want anything too hot or that requires too many layers underneath.
Reply:Hey fellow Minnesota girl!!

I got married out doors (reception was in and we had a back-up plan for rain) in Minneapolis, on Aug 26th 2006. The weather was GORGEOUS!! I actually think August weather has been better(cooler and less of a chance for rain than June or July) in recent years and has become a more popular month then it used to be. Of course you do always want a back-up plan in case of rain!

As far as attire lightweight fabrics are great, but I think it totally depends on the time of day and the "type" or "theme" of your wedding. It sounds like your "theme" and I hate that word because it makes people think like over-the-top medieval theme or beach theme or vegas theme (which is awesome if that's what you want) but a theme can also just be a laid back, romantic wedding filled with wildflowers! I think that sounds perfect for the month of August! The exact kind of dress I see is something vintage looking and ivory and whimsical with some lace and the guys in not the classic black tuxes, but like a brown pinstripe or navy or something.....

Check out Brides of France, there's one in Uptown on Hennepin or one, I believe, in Edina (50th and France) They have some really nice vintage and new, different options. I also had a good experience at The Wedding Shoppe in St Paul on Grand. They have just about anything.

I'd love to hear more about your wedding. Where is it going to be? I really want to get into wedding planning, so I just love to hear about everyone's different ideas! Also if you are in need of a photographer or florist (though it sounds like you have that one taken care of) I definitely have some suggestions! Good Luck with everything!
Reply:idk the weather there. but a cute wedding dress would be a simple one. maybe a satin dress with spaghetti straps, beaded boddess and kinda sleek and straight. you dont wont to have a big poofy one outside.

i think the one in the link above is really pretty and would be good for outdoors and is laid-back but still romantic.

i hope you find your perfect dress and have a wonderful wedding!!!
