I want to make my own bouquets. Anyone do this?

I plan to use the wild flowers that grow alongside the road where I live (seriously!). I was also thinking of using grass and other flowerless wild plants for greenery in the bouquet. We are having a small country wedding this summer. My gown is a very simple lace gown. My bridesmaids are wearing wearing eyelet lace dresses (strapless and to the knee) with pink sashes. Do you think that making our own is a good idea? Has anyone ever done anything like this?

Yes, I made the floral arrangements for my centerpieces. As long as you keep it simple, it shouldn't be a problem.

Just buy some floral tape (you can get it at a crafts store like Micheals) to hold the bouquet together. Make sure you have a cool place to keep them in water until the time is ready (I made my arrangements 2 days early). Also, cut the flowers at an angle -- they can soak up more water that way %26amp; stay fresh longer.

Do a practice bouquet ahead of time. See how long it stays fresh. Also, make sure the wildflowers you plan to use will be growing at the time of year you're getting married.

One last thing: make sure it's legal for you to pick those flowers!

Good luck! I'm sure it will be easy and have a very nice, rustic look.
Reply:What I would do is start practicing now. See what you like and see what will be the easiest to do. Sometimes it can be a lot harder than people think to put together a sturdy bouquet...but, it can be done.

If I were you I would think about using the big Gerbera daisies...they are an affordable flower. They are also big, so it doesn't take many of them to put together a bouquet.

I think the idea of wild flowers is beautiful...but just make sure you have some kind of backup plan since you are planning to pick them alongside of the road...you never know; if it just rained or someone cuts them down then you won't have very many flowers to work with. I think there are plently of things you can do to make your own bouquets...just be prepared with the right supplies and practice. You don't want to have a big disaster the day of your wedding because you can't find flowers or the bouquet isn't working the way you want it to. Always be prepared...and good luck :)
Reply:You could but you are going to have to make them the day of the wedding. If you pick them and make them before hand, even a day, they are going to be wilted and droppy. Think about how much time you are going to have the actual day of the wedding. . .
Reply:I think that if the flowers are there for the picking then go for it. I would advise that you practice though. You wouldn't want to leave it for the last minute then realize that you aren't able to make it happen.
Reply:I think it is a great idea that will make your wedding much more personal and intimate rather than just for show.
Reply:That can be done. I saw a tutorial on the DIY network. If you do a little more research im sure you wil find what you need.

good luck
